From March 17 - March 23
After having such a wonderful week last week, I was excited to have another successful week! I had the chance to learn more about the technical and strategic sides of music production.
Here’s a breakdown of the highlights:
Monday—Social Media and Combining Knowledge
I did work related to social media for both MAM and VMS, watched a mixing session, and progressed my knowledge in Motion about automation and schedules. One important lesson from the day was realizing process optimization.
Tuesday—Expanding Reach and Finalizing Tracks
I finished tuning vocals for a track, issued updates for VMS Recording's new project on the VMS social media sites, and listened in on the mixing session for that track, therefore filling the day. I also kept working on MAM & VMS social media content and email list matters.
Wednesday—Artist Collaboration & Running Pro Tool
I was working on some social media responsibilities when an artist in the studio asked me to tweak their vocals. Mark allowed me to do so while keeping the artist's goals in mind. This presented me a chance to participate in the creative process and offer advice on key choices. Mark also let me run Pro Tools during the session, therefore improving my technical ability. We also spoke about the likelihood of my playing a role outside of the internship as a full time assistant.
Thursday—Remote Tuning Work
A more relaxed day working from home, I concentrated on vocal tuning for Mark's projects. This let me put what I have been learning in the studio to use working alone.
Friday—Further Refining and Workshop Planning
I met with Mark in person to go over the goals of the upcoming Sound and Media Workshop and also worked remotely on tuning. I worked on additional songs for mixing and tweaking, which improved my workflow even more.
Saturday—Sound and Media Workshop at Capital University
Attending the Sound and Media Workshop was quite an event! To help Mark's platform document the event and increase his online presence, I captured audio and video materials to be shared on social media.
Sunday—Live Audio Creation and Commentary
I sat with Mark as he mixed audio for the World Harvest Church broadcast. Following that, we met over lunch to consider the job done and go over next directions.
This week had just the right combination of studio work, social media strategy, and industry experience. Looking forward what lies ahead!
