This week felt like a deep dive into both the technical and behind-the-scenes aspects of the studio. It wasn’t the flashiest week, but it was one of the most informative so far—and that kind of growth is exactly what I hoped for from this internship.
I kicked off the week by sitting in on a mixing session where I got a super detailed walkthrough of the Dolby Atmos export system. It was a lot to take in, but honestly, I love these moments where I get to absorb something that I know will be useful down the line. Being exposed to immersive audio workflows makes me think about how I can eventually incorporate spatial mixing into my own projects.
Tuesday and Wednesday were all about social media and content. I uploaded a new VMS Sessions episode across platforms and updated the website accordingly, then jumped into making more MAM content. At the same time, I was sitting in on client mixing sessions—so it was definitely a juggle between tech and creative. I also spent time updating project timelines in Motion, which has quickly become second nature by now.
Thursday was a full blend of admin and creativity. Another mixing session, more social content, and then lunch with Mark where we got to chat more about his speaker system setup (which is wild, by the way) and how we’re handling some of the backend tasks as things grow. It was casual, but meaningful—conversations like that give me insight into how to keep both the creative and logistical parts of a studio business running smoothly.
Friday and Saturday were remote days. I worked on vocal tuning and took time to explore Google Ad Manager a bit more. I'm learning that social media and audience targeting are just as much part of the job now as knowing how to tune a vocal well. Saturday especially felt like a slower day, but those small steps forward in organizing and educating myself added up.
Sunday was Easter - Mark and I took the day off to spend with family.
All in all, this week was a good reminder that progress doesn’t always come in the form of big moments—sometimes it’s just showing up consistently, learning something new, and keeping all the moving parts in sync.
