From April 21 - April 25

It’s a little surreal writing this, but this week officially wraps up my internship with Mark Abrams. Even though the internship is ending, it’s not really “goodbye”—and that’s probably the best part.

Monday was a chill start: I sat in on the Puremix mixing contest wrap-up, where they announced the winners. It was cool to hear Fab Dupont's feedback and what he was listening for in a winning mix.

Tuesday was packed. I sat in on a Chris Graham Coaching meeting, updated the scheduling app, sat in on a client revisions session, and then spent some time from home tuning vocals for upcoming projects. It felt like one of those days where I was bouncing between a lot of small tasks, but all of them were practical skills that I know I'll keep using.

Wednesday was a big day for me personally. I sat in on another mixing session, and more importantly, had a sit-down with Mark to talk about what’s next. He let me know that he wanted me to stay on after the internship ends — and offered me a position as his assistant! We also went over how to set up invoices for my freelance work, which made everything about stepping into this next chapter feel much more real and exciting.

Thursday and Friday were all about wrapping things up and looking ahead. I sat in on mixing sessions both days, kept working on vocal tuning from home, and on Friday, we (Mark, Leslie Armour and I) made it official: I’m now officially hired on as Mark’s assistant! It was such a good feeling to have everything finalized and to know that I get to continue working with Mark and the team moving forward.

This internship wasn’t just about learning to tune vocals faster or getting a handle on Atmos exports (though I definitely picked up both). It was about seeing how a real professional studio runs day-to-day — and how much communication, trust, and teamwork matter behind the scenes.

I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity I had to intern with Mark, and even more excited that this isn’t the end — it’s just the beginning of a whole new chapter.
